The Scrap Iron 5K is one of the most unique race experiences in the Lowcountry — and getting there is part of the adventure. Taking place on April 4th on beautiful Daufuskie Island, this race blends scenic views, relaxed coastal charm, and a fun community atmosphere. Island Head makes race day simple by serving as your transportation solution with direct ferry access from Hilton Head.
After crossing the finish line, participants can enjoy the island’s local charm, food, and waterfront scenery at Freeport Marina.

Friday, April 3
Location: Hilton Head Running Company
3:00 PM – Packet Pickup Begins
5:00 PM – Packet Pickup Ends
Saturday, April 4
1:00 PM – Water Taxi departs Hilton Head Island (Broad Creek Marina)
1:45 PM – Water Taxi arrives Daufuskie Island
1:45 PM – Packet Pickup begins at Old Daufuskie Crab Company
2:15 PM – Registration Closes
2:20 PM – Packet Pickup Ends
2:30 PM – Race Start
3:45 PM – Race Ends
4:00 PM – Awards Ceremony
3:30–5:15 PM – Post-Race Party at Old Daufuskie Crab Company
5:15 PM – Water Taxi departs Daufuskie Island
6:00 PM – Water Taxi arrives Hilton Head Island
